Product Manager – Music Club Deluxe

Demon Music Group (DMG) is one of the UK’s largest independent record companies, specialising in the creative production and marketing of both CDs and digital rights.

With 16 physical and digital labels covering all genres and price points; from low-price box sets full-price through to full priced TV advertised albums, DMG continually creates competitive, high quality product for its customers. Our repertoire is sourced from both major and independent companies around the world as well as from our own vast library of rights.

DMG is now looking to recruit a Product Manager – Music Club Deluxe to product manage Music Club Deluxe and other labels and releases when required and ensure they achieve budgeted turnover and P&L.

This role will include key accountabilities such as:

• Responsible for managing releases in line with the release schedule, on deadline and in budget.

• Budgetary control of all work submitted to outside suppliers.

• Full responsibility for accuracy of proof reading and quality control of artwork and product packaging.

• Source and initiate ideas and concepts, collating track listing, photographic material for all releases worked.

• Briefing designers and mastering studios.

• Checking audio content of all releases prior to release.

• Liaise with Licensing Manager to ensure commercially competitive licensing terms and conditions.

• Present all new releases to and liaise with the sales department to create ‘promotional materials’ and opportunities to drive sales on labels.

• Liaise with music customers/buyers and filter information through sales for feedback on new albums / ranges / design / etc to achieve ‘buy in’ with retail on projects.

• Liaison with supply chain to use cost effective market-leading packaging design ideas to create the most competitive and innovative products.

 

• Analysis of market data to understand trends, opportunities and threats.

• Ad hoc projects as required by the DMG management team.

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience of managing multiple complex projects concurrently.

• Have good knowledge and interest in all music genres, especially the digital side of the business – from licensing issues to marketing opportunities in this growing stream of income for DMG.

• Have expert knowledge of major label and independent repertoire owners.

• Have an understanding of retail market place.

• Be numerate, computer proficient and able to understand turnover, profit and loss accounts.

• Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, with experience in SAP Purchase Order Management a plus.

• Be able to use OCC and analyse data.

• Possess strong organisation skills & a methodical focused approach to work with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

• Understanding of design, and print processes. Excellent attention to detail. Accomplished proof-reader.

• Strong communication, influencing and problem solving skills.
